Wellbeing and Organisational Happiness Management System
NP 4590:2023 is the Portuguese Standard that defines the requirements for establishing a Wellbeing and Organisational Happiness Management System, published by the Portuguese Institute for Quality (IPQ). This standard positions wellbeing not as a set of isolated initiatives, but as a cross-organisational management system — on a par with quality, environmental and safety management — integrating policies, processes, indicators and continuous improvement.
The NP 4590 implementation programme is led by Regina Cruz, who was a member of the technical committee responsible for developing the standard, bringing direct insight and practical expertise to support organisations in its effective application.
NP 4590 provides a strategic and measurable framework for organisations to:
- Build healthier, more balanced and sustainable workplace cultures;
- Promote the physical, mental and emotional health of the entire workforce;
- Increase engagement, productivity and talent retention;
- Strengthen their reputation as responsible and inspiring employers.
At Happiness Business School, we support your organisation in the practical implementation of NP 4590.
From system design to internal audits, including preparation for official external certification by accredited bodies, we turn the standard into a living process — led by those who contributed to its creation, bringing direct insight and practical experience to its implementation.
